Cave Painting

If you've been reading about what is Paleo, then what is not Paleo starts coming into clear focus. It's pretty simple really...if a cave man couldn't have found it, killed it, caught it, picked it or pulled it out of the ground, it's probably going to be off the paleo foods list.

We can break this down into three groups of what is not paleo food: 1: the obvious, 2: the not so obvious and 3: hidden in plain sight. This will make it easier to remember and helps guide decision making when you're at the grocery store and need to make a decision.

What Is Not Paleo - The Obvious

The obvious are food items that our Paleolithic ancestors would clearly not have been able to get their hands on. Things like:

  • Cakes or cookies
  • Processed foods such as hot dogs or frozen pre-prepped meals
  • Dairy like milk or cheese
  • Sugary drinks like sodas
  • Fast food
  • Any kind of junk food such as candy
  • Sugars
  • Potato chips
  • Pancakes and breads
